Frequently asked questions
Does my restaurant need its own website for SEO?
Highly recommended. A single landing page with your menu, location, hours, photos, and reviews lets you rank for [your restaurant name] queries directly — and lets you control the messaging. Zomato/Swiggy listings work too but they own the relationship.
Should I use my QR menu URL as my website?
Yes, this is a clean approach. Your ZaikaQR menu URL is a real fast-loading page that Google indexes. Add it to your Google Business Profile as the website.

Most Indian restaurants treat SEO as "just be on Zomato." There's a much cleaner free-traffic playbook, and the restaurants that follow it own their customer relationship instead of paying a 25% commission for it.
1. Claim your Google Business Profile (the single biggest lever)
Your Google Business Profile (GBP) is what shows up when someone searches "café near me" — name, hours, photos, reviews, menu link, phone. It's free, it ranks higher than any third-party listing, and most restaurants are leaving it half-finished.
Verify. Google sends a postcard or phone call. Do this on day one.
Add photos. 20-30 high-quality photos lift profile clicks by 35%+.
Set the right category. "Café," "Indian restaurant," "Coffee shop" — pick the most specific.
Set your menu link. Use your ZaikaQR URL (e.g. zaikaqr.com/yourslug/menuscan) as the Menu URL.
Reply to every review. Within 24 hours. Reply velocity is a ranking factor.
2. Review velocity beats review count
Google ranks restaurants with steady fresh review velocity higher than restaurants with 500 old reviews. Two new reviews this week > 30 reviews from 2022.
Build a simple flow: at the end of every meal, your bill has a QR code that opens your Google Reviews page. ZaikaQR's "Leave Review" CTA on the customer menu does exactly this — one tap to the Google review form.
3. Schema markup (huge, easy)
Schema is structured data that tells Google what your page is. A restaurant page with proper Schema gets rich-result eligibility — star ratings in the SERP, menu link, hours, photos directly in search results.
ZaikaQR menu pages emit Restaurant + LocalBusiness + AggregateRating schema automatically. If you have a separate website, ask your developer to add the same.
4. Local citations
Google looks at where your business name, address, and phone (NAP) appear consistently across the web. Get listed on:
Justdial
Sulekha
TripAdvisor (especially for tourist-heavy cities)
Zomato + Swiggy (yes, even if you don't take delivery)
Yelp
Your area's local food bloggers
NAP consistency matters. If your address is "Shop 4, MG Road" on Google and "Shop No. 4, Mahatma Gandhi Marg" on Justdial, Google may treat them as different businesses. Pick one format and use it everywhere.
5. Content that ranks
Three pieces of content most restaurants should publish:
Menu page — your QR menu URL counts. ZaikaQR's loads fast and indexes cleanly.
About / story page — captures "[restaurant name] story" / "[restaurant name] history" searches.
Single blog post for any specialty — e.g. "Best Gujarati thali in Khanpur" ranks for that exact phrase if it's on your site.
6. Multilingual content
70% of Indian internet users prefer regional language content. Most restaurant websites are English-only. Just having Gujarati or Hindi item names on your menu (ZaikaQR supports both natively) signals to Google that you serve a multi-language audience — useful for ranking in mixed-language queries.
7. Speed
Google ranks fast-loading mobile pages higher. Most restaurant WordPress sites are slow because of huge photos and a builder theme. ZaikaQR menu pages load in under 2 seconds on 4G because we cache aggressively and serve from edge.
If you have a separate website, run a free PageSpeed Insights test: pagespeed.web.dev. A score above 80 on mobile is healthy.
What NOT to do
Don't pay for "SEO services" promising "rank #1 on Google in 30 days." It's a scam.
Don't keyword-stuff your name ("Spice Garden — Best Restaurant Ahmedabad Top Veg Food"). Google penalizes this.
Don't buy backlinks. Google detects and penalizes.
