What is Average Order Value (AOV)?

AOV is the average total of a single customer order. It's a key metric — small AOV improvements compound massively over a year. QR menus often lift AOV by 10-15% via better photos and upsells.

In detail

AOV = Total Revenue ÷ Number of Orders. If your restaurant did ₹5 lakh in 1,000 orders last month, your AOV is ₹500.

QR menus typically lift AOV because: customers see appealing photos of every dish (paper menus often only have photos for a few), upsells like 'Add a drink?' fire at the right moment, and items are easier to discover when grouped by category.

A 10% AOV lift on a ₹5 lakh/month restaurant is ₹6 lakh/year of additional revenue with no extra customers and no extra cost.

Why it matters for your restaurant

Understanding Average Order Value (AOV) helps you evaluate restaurant software properly, talk to your tech vendors with confidence, and make better-informed pricing and operational decisions.
